Arsene Wenger, Alexis Sanchez is best transfer since Thierry Henry

Arsene Wenger believes Alexis Sanchez is his best signing since Thierry Henry moved to Arsenal.

The Chilean forward moved to the Emirates last summer in a £35m deal from Barcelona and has excelled in his opening season – scoring 20 goals in 40 appearances in all competitions this term.

Henry moved to Arsenal from Juventus for a fee of around £11m in 1999 and scored 228 goals during his eight years at the club to become the Gunners’ record goal-scorer.

However, Sanchez’s early form at the Emirates has convinced Wenger that the Chilean is his best signing since Henry.

‘Yes he’s the closest maybe,’ Wenger admitted in an interview with beIN Sports.

‘He has similar movement and he’s a killer as well.

‘He wants to always play and to always win. He’s highly focused and motivated.’
