Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been voted the Caf Footballer of the Year while Yaya Toure was named runner-up at the 2015 Glo-Caf Awards held on Thursday night in Abuja, Nigeria.
The Gabonese forward is still in top form and is currently now the top scorer in the Bundesliga with 18 goals.
In a vote of coaches and technical directors of Caf nations, Aubameyang got 143 points, with Manchester City midfielder Toure on 136 and Ghana and Swansea midfielder Andre Ayew on 112.
Aubameyang is the first player from his country to win the award, and was so happy about the award, he thanked all his friends, family and all his fellow teammate both from National team side and his present club.
Yaya Toure said he was “quite disappointed” but praised “brilliant” Aubameyang.
He lifted the Nations Cup trophy in February last year as Ivory Coast took the African crown for the first time in more than 20 years.
