The Super Falcons of Nigeria, will confront the hosts Country, Congo in the opening game of the All Africa Games 2015 on Sunday in Brazzaville.
The Super Falcons have won the All Africa Games football gold twice, in 2003 and 2007 respectively beating South Africa in both finals 1-0, 4-0, they will be hoping to win their third top prize in Congo.
Congo, on the other hand, are minnows in women’s football and will be looking forward to upset the coach Christopher Danjuma-led team.
Nigeria team will miss the services of reigning African women Footballer of the Year, Asisat Oshoala, who is injured; Francesca Ordega, Josephine Chukwunonye, Ngozi Okobi among others due to club engagements.
Coach Danjuma said his team have a point to prove being African champions and won’t look down on Congo.
“We are going to Congo as African champions and we need to prove that. We won’t look down on Congo and other teams at the All Africa Games,” he declared.
